Country Pubs still the heart of the Community
The Settlers Arms in Ormondville.
On a recent weekend the Settlers Arms in Ormondville hosted two groups which show that country pubs are still very much alive and an ever important part of their communities.
During the weekend they hosted an RSA group and a Mystery Tour. The mystery tour was from one of the districts retirement villages and stopped for morning tea, before continuing on their journey.
Country pubs are changing and are now often the social centre for their communities. Some often pick up the pieces when other businesses in the district close; such as the Post Office, General Store, or Takeaways.
The interiors have changed too with soft comfortable seating and warm woodburner fires. It’s much more like visiting friends at their home. Like it or not the smoking legislation has probably been a catalyst for some of this change.
The Settlers Arms offers a great opportunity for a couple or family to set down some roots and become part of a community. The property comes with 3 bedroom accomodation attached. Split over 3 titles there’s also room for a large veggie garden and a couple of sheep or cows.
